JACK Model Numbers Explained: A2, A4, A5, F4, E4, C4, K4 and Suffixes
This guide to JACK model numbers explains what each letter and digit means. Short answer: a JACK model number is a prefix letter for the machine type, a number for the generation, and often a suffix for features such as servo motor, auto thread trimming or direct drive. For example, A means lockstitch, E and C mean overlock, W and K mean flatlock or interlock types, and a higher number is usually a newer generation. Always confirm with the plate on your machine, because parts and error codes do not always carry across series.
Buying the right spare part starts with knowing exactly which machine you own. This guide shows how to read a JACK model number, why it matters for error codes and spares, and how to give us the details we need to send the correct part. Stitch Partner has served tailors, boutiques and garment units since 1989 and supplies genuine JACK spares across India.

JACK model numbers: How a JACK Model Number Is Built
| Part | What it tells you | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Prefix letter | Machine type | A and F: lockstitch. E and C: overlock (serger). W: flatlock or interlock. K: interlock for heavier work |
| संख्या | Generation or level. A higher number usually means newer features | A2, A3, A4, A5; E3, E4; C3, C4, C7 |
| Suffix | Extra features, for example servo motor, auto trimming or direct drive | Ends such as S and D appear on many models |
Suffix codes differ between series, so treat them as a guide, not a rule. The machine plate and the parts book for your exact model are the final word.
JACK model numbers: The Common JACK Families
| Family | Machine type | Typical use | Error code guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| A2, A3, A4, A5 | Single-needle lockstitch, most with auto trimmer on newer models | Shirts, trousers, general garment sewing | A4/K4/A5 guide |
| F4, F5, F6 | Direct-drive power-saving lockstitch | General garment sewing | F4/F5/F6 guide |
| E3, E4 | Overlock (serger) | Seaming and edge finishing | C4/E4 guide |
| C3, C4, C7 | Heavy-duty overlock | Thicker fabrics and bulk work | C4/E4 guide |
| W4, W5 | Flatlock or interlock | Sportswear and knitwear | Interlock vs flatlock guide |
| K4, K5 | Interlock for stretch and heavier fabrics | Knits and stretch | A4/K4/A5 guide |
| T781E (bartack series) | Electronic bartack or pattern machine | Reinforcement stitching | Bartack section |
JACK model numbers: Why the Model Matters
- Error codes. Each control box family has its own code list. An E4 on a lockstitch F4 means something different from E4 on a C4 overlock. See our JACK error codes hub.
- Spare parts. Parts that look alike do not always fit across series. Match the part to the exact model, not only the family.
- Motors and boards. Servo motors and control boards must match the machine and control box. Read our servo motor troubleshooting guide before you order.
JACK model numbers: Where to Find Your Exact Model
- Look for the metal or printed plate on the arm or the back of the machine head. It shows the model and a serial number.
- Check the control box or panel label. It often shows the control box type, which decides the error code list.
- Look at the parts book that came with the machine, or the sticker on the motor.
- If you cannot find it, send us a clear photo of the machine head, the plate and the part you need.
JACK model numbers: How to Order the Right JACK Part
Send us three things on WhatsApp: the model number from the plate, the error code or symptom, and a photo of the part or plug. With that we can confirm the exact part before you pay. Popular JACK spares include the wheel sensor, wire connector, pedal wire, A2B PCB motherboard और यह F4/F5 servo motor set. We deliver across India with cash on delivery.

When to fix it yourself
First, note the exact code or symptom. Then switch off and reseat every plug. After that, restart and test on scrap cloth. However, if the fault returns, stop restarting. Instead, check the cable and the supply voltage.
Also, remember that a code is only a clue. For instance, an overload code may come from a dry machine, not a bad box. Likewise, a sensor code may be just a dirty sensor. Therefore, clean and check first, and then replace parts. As a result, you save money and downtime.
Besides that, always test after each fix. For example, run the machine slowly after you reseat a plug. In short, change one thing at a time. Consequently, you will know what fixed it. Finally, ask us on WhatsApp if you are unsure which part fits.
Moreover, keep the machine clean and oiled. Also, use a stabiliser, because unstable mains voltage causes many faults. In addition, never pull on the plugs. Therefore, a few minutes of care each week saves costly repairs. Otherwise, small faults become big ones.
अक्सर पूछे जाने वाले प्रश्नों
What does the letter in a JACK model number mean?
It shows the machine type: A and F for lockstitch, E and C for overlock, W for flatlock or interlock and K for heavier interlock.
Is a higher number always better?
Usually the number shows a newer generation with more features, but the best model depends on your fabric, volume and budget.
Do JACK spare parts fit every model?
No. Parts can look identical and still not fit across series, so match the part to the exact model.
How do I know which error code list applies to my machine?
Match your model family to the control box: F4/F5/F6 use E-codes, A4/K4/A5 use Err-codes and E4/C4 overlocks use their own E-codes. Our hub links each guide.
What if I cannot find my model number?
Send us a photo of the machine head, the plate and the part, and we will identify it.
